The Chrysler automobile company is an iconic American brand founded in Detroit by Walter Chrysler in 1925. Chrysler ran into serious financial problems mainly due to their inability to design a smaller car with low fuel consumption and the company nearly went bankrupt until it was bought out in part by Fiat in 2009 . Since then chrysler car sales seem to have increased and the Chrysler brand is certainly a lot more popular in Europe than it was 10 years ago. Chrysler is gaining in popularity throughout the UK and in march 2010 Chrysler appointed seven new dealerships to its growing network throughout the UK. As well as Chrysler, the Jeep and Dodge range all come under the same mark and there is a growing trend to buy these large American style cars in the UK. With the increase in Chrysler new car sales so the second hand market has increased but as yet the brand is too new in the UK to be able to pick up a Chrysler at a cheap price. With the emphasis on luxury and size, Chrysler car sales remain fixed at the higher end of the market. The factors that caused the demise of Chrysler in the USA have had the opposite effect on Chrysler car sales in the UK. The size and swagger of this iconic American brand has for some reason captured the imagination of the British car buyer. Whether or not the success of the Chrysler Fiat partnership will continue is impossible to say but Chrysler car sales are booming compared to previous years as people seem to have forgotten any reservations about large cars and fuel consumption that were felt a few years ago.
